藝術家嚴惠蕙畢業於香港中文大學藝術系獲學士學位；1991年獲前香港理工學院高級陶藝證書。由1985至1993年間任職香港藝術館助理館長，期後一直致力藝術推廣與持續創作，多件作品為香港藝術館、香港文化博物館及私人收藏。藝術家的陶藝創作壇長以造形見稱，尤其生植物、人體器官等形態，早就成為標誌性的創作。從生物造形中，生命與泥土之間的關係得以呈現；既探求生命的種種，而藝術家的感情，甚至信仰，亦直率地投射在作品裡。嚴惠蕙過往曾在台灣駐留期間，接觸及觀摩到陶瓷柴燒的魅力，因而創作《21克》系列作品。利用柴燒泥塑十字架，再燒製過程中殘留的柴灰抽取21克成為作品一部分，象徵人的靈魂。在情理兼備的觀察、造像、轉化過程中，陶泥這有機的物料與生命議題，如呼吸一樣一脈相成。

Artist Yim Wai Wai graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a bachelor degree of Art; received a certificate of advanced ceramics from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1991. She was a curator of the Hong Kong Museum of Art from 1985 to 1993. Afterwards, she has been dedicated to promoting art and continuing her creation, her artworks are the collection of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and private collections. Her ceramics practices are best-known for shapes construction, especially forms like plants, human organs, which have become her signature. In the biological construction of shapes, the relationship between life and clay are demonstrated. Not only the daily life but also the emotion and belief of artist are directly projected to the artworks. When Wai Wai went to Taiwan for Artist in Residency, she fathomed the charisma of ceramics firewood, eventually created《21 grams》. By using clay and firewood to create the cross, also extract 21 gram of wood-ashes to be a part of the work, which symbolises the human soul. During the process of sentimental and rational observation with construction and transformation, the organic materials of ceramics correlate the motion of life like breathing.
