Rosanna Li Wei Han studied ceramics in Hong Kong and England, she had been teaching in the design department of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 1990-2010. Apart from studio practice, she is also devoted to promoting HK Ceramics development and education.

In her ceramics practice, the plump figures of a male and a female have been the artist’s signature work. Through creating the scenario suited with different sculptural shapes and tools, and wandering among all sorts of daily affairs, she achieved many pieces of pleasant works. In the shaping process, both hands touch the clay focusing on the texture and experience, the clay would follow the order then turn into vivid dolls. Besides, the clay in the eyes of Rosanna is alive, the artist uses the squeezed clay in packages, it demonstrates its primitive state untrammelled, turning into many pieces of ‘bread-scape’ full of texture after the firing. To experience ‘nature’ through the materialistic properties of ceramics, the relationship between artist and ceramics is similar to their dancing together.
